Falken in the Werra valley
Falken in the Werra valley

The Treffurter district Falken is situated – surrounded by extended forests and a typical calcareous plant life – idyllically in the beautiful Werra valley. Especially worth seeing are the meadows covered with lime-trees, the St. Martini church with the artfully designed three-wing altar, the museum of local history in the tower of the church, and the peasants’ pulpit – a rock spur in the Falkener Klippen (cliffs of Falken). From here, Thomas Müntzer is said to have spoken to the peasants of Falken.
